This is a second film version of Yukio Mishima’s play about the battle
between the Black Lizard, a thief, and Kogoro Akechi. Mishima revised the
original play for the leading actor Akihiro Maruyama, a female impersonator,
who later changed his name to Akihiro Miwa. So, his bewitching appearance
and beauty stands out all the more.
